Rubstrip/ Epoxy Questions

Howdy
Slippery fingered fool that I am, I bobbled my wife's fiberglass (GASP!) yak in the parking lot. It resulted in a drop of about a foot and a small crack/chip in the bow. Nothing life threatening. Here's where you come in. I did this same thing last year with my CLC boat and repaired it by fairing the dent and covering it with the CLC rubstrip kit. Can I do this with the fiberglass boat? My thoughts are to sand the chip/scratch clean, backfill any low spots with thickened epoxy and apply the CLC rubstrip kit as before. Not sure of all the various characteristics of epoxy, fiberglass, etc, and I would like to get an idea of what other people think.
Thanks for the insight.
