Re: extreme kayaking

I was crossing the Tasman Sea westbound at the same time the kayaker was going eastbound. Small difference, I was on the Statendam, a medium sized cruise ship. We had wind gusts to 75 knots and 10-15 foot seas all the way across. The wind slowed the ship so much that we arrived a half day late in Tasmania. A very small discomfort compared to what the kayaker's family is going through. A very sad story indeed.
