epoxy

I'm building my first boat and am a little mystified by epoxy... The System Three Silver Tip is substantially more expensive than the regular System Three marine epoxy. I asked a sales rep about it and he told me that the Silvertip is thinner and better for laminating. He used the construction of a skateboard as an example. I don't need to laminate, but he still recommends Silvertip over the reglar System Three marine epoxy for building a kayak. I know that it won't blush, but blush can be scrubbed away and the regular stuff is about $50.00 cheaper per gallon where I can get it. Is it unnecessary to buy the Silver Tip, or if I go with the cheaper product, will my boat look crappy or will my scarfs fail?
