Long distance racing

Howdy all,

I'm planning on entering the Colorado River 100 in Sept. and would like to know which kayak you would recommend for such a long race.

This race is 100 miles in the heat of the Texas summer, likely to be above 90 F. There are portages and you have to paddle all night. You are allowed a "helper" to deliver food / water at road crossings, so the kayak wouldn't have to carry a great deal of supplies.

I'm in good shape, but my paddling experience is limited to about 2 hours on a Aquaterra Prism each Saturday.

I would like to build a kayak to train and race in. Chesapeke Light Craft looks like a great start for a beginning boat builder.

Any sugggestions would be greately appreciated.
