I suggest that CLC indicate this approach on the plans and in the manual for the Chesapeake 17" Presently the plans indicate 93" from the bow to the aft side of the deck beam.......nothing cushy about this dimension is suggested. There is no +/- or reference to the need to check to see if the coaming fits. For us non professionals, we follow plans thinking the dimensions given are correct, especially given the stated number of these kayaks built. One would think all the wrinkles have been ironed out.
