butt joints

nothing wrong with butt joints, the only place they don't work is on bent decks or two piece hulls like the Yare/Severn. The A.Hawk hull panel butt joints are made with LOTS of glass on one side. I'd stick with 4mm ply instead of glass for ease of constructing butt joints.

Glassing boths sides for a butt joint leaves you with an exterior piece to sand down but can work if the interior and exterior is getting glassed anyway with the initial glassing on both sides just for the time of assembly.
