Re: Need shopping list

Doug,

I paddle a 14-ft pirogue (which is similar to an undecked MC) a lot and have found that Lee's list is pretty much all I use most of the time. Bob's stuff is going to be good for when you've gotten enough experience to venture beyond stroll in the park conditions, except that extra line is good to have on board at any time. Twine and a sharp knife is always useful, too.

I'd also throw in a chart, compass and/or GPS if the coastline is going to be all crinkly. Some kind of watertight containers for lunches, some way of storing drinking water, a first aid kit (nothing elaborate, just something that'll handle cuts, scrapes, sunburn, poison ivy and animal bites). A 2 lb. anchor on 3/8" nylon line comes in handy. Finally, some kind of bailer (a 1-gallon milk jug with the bottom cut off is great) and a large sponge.

Ignore Dan, he's been mixing his Glenlivet with his cyanide pills again. He should have it slept off by April :-)

Have fun,

Laszlo
