Re: Raka System Epoxy

Hi Birch,
I'm pretty sure I've used all of the major brands out there (West, System Three, Raka, MAS, US Composites). As far as I can tell, there is a difference in epoxy types as reflected in the following... (http://www.oneoceankayaks.com/Epoxtest.htm)
And now there even cheaper epoxies out there. (A Google search will find stuff approaching the cost of polyester.)
But when all is said and done, a quality kayak project is going to cost $1,000 to $1,500 or more... As for me, I'll spend the extra $50 and follow CLC's advice and use MAS. (Maybe down the road they'll test RAKA and give it their stamp of approval... Until then, I'll reserve the cheap epoxy on "throw-away dingies and skiff.")
Just a thought,
Alan
