Gap below bulkheads

OK, been wiring and fairing the hull on my CH17 kit, it went well, I hung the hull from the sheerclamps, and it needed virtually no winding or adjustment. I positioned the bulkheads and they slide right up to where they are meant to go, except that there is a gap between the bottom panels and the bottom 'point' on each bulkhead, about 5/8" rear, 3/8 front. I loosened and tightened all the hull wires again, measured all my dimensions again, still no joy. The bulkheads fit the sides perfectly. What's going on? Does it matter that much anyway?
