Mike Haussman PVC sling

The "Tips for boatbuilding" on this site show plans for a PVC sling designed by Mike Haussman. Has anyone made this sling? if so, what measurments did you use for the various pieces? Did you use 2" PVC? That seems a bit overbuilt to me. -Thanks Jonathan
