Dan,

I think the hatches on the SIS are cut after the deck is assembled, so you can easily modify the dimensions.

Please remember that it's considered risky to open hatches to the bouyancy compartments while afloat. If you put in a well or bulkheads for safety, they should to go in after the hull and deck are joined, to permit access to the interior when glassing the seams.

I seem to remember that Hemingway wrote a story about a guy who caught a fish that was too large for his boat...
