Don't do it. Don't build another kayak with the same hull. Kayaks are just tools with different designs better for different conditions. You should build your second boat (with the strip deck) for use in conditions different from your first kayak. And keep the first boat too.

Even if you don't want to do that I recommend that you wait until after completing the new kayak to sell your current boat. I spent a lot longer building my strip kayak because I wanted to add a lot more art than I had experience for. Since I had a kayak to paddle I never felt rushed and got to build the stripper just the way I wanted. Since I had a kayak to paddle in the interim I never had to hurry and I got to enjoy the experience all the more.
