There is a lady up here in Ottawa Canada - Dot Bonnenfant, who makes her living doing woodburning art on paddles and wooden boats including wooden kayaks. It is really remarkable what she can do. You'd swear they were charcoal drawings. Before his passing, she had done a paddle for Pierre Elliot Trudeau - one of our most beloved Prime Ministers and an avid canoe paddler.

So yeah, go for it!

And take pictures for us.
