I just "armor" the last six inches of my blades with a bit of fiberglass. Doesn't even haff to be heavy stuff; I use 3.25-oz fine weave, which is particularly easy to feather in to the rest of the blade. Nobody can even believe they're fiberglassed when I tell 'em.

I've banged a few rocks in my time, but mostly grind away on oyster reefs and barnacles with my blades. The glass answers my needs perfectly.
