Re: watertightness of hat

yep, it's a two handed, two thumb/two middle/forefinger CLICK. It's an easy set-up to design starting with the fast-lock buckle but the buckle is defining the method of closure. QCCkayaks uses them. The problem is that when your hands are cold it's mighty hard to close with sufficient force for an optimum seal. Or if a big person grabs the aft hatch straps it's possible to break the buckle in a panicked rescue. My preference is some kind of closure where the effort required to close the hatch and maintain the seal aren't one to one like a VCP hatch or the Arctic Hawk/Shearwater/merganser swivel levers.
