The CLC guys are right... You really need to close up that gap. If you can't get at the back of the bulkhead via a hatch, you can always "scrape" a little bit of epoxy into the gap such that it shrinks to 1/16th of an inch. When that cures you should have a tiny gap just waiting for a fillet... And THAT will take care of any leaking once and for all...
