Scarf Joint Look

Does anyone have any tips for improving the look of scarf joints after glued and sanded, before fiberglassed. Mine are a bit wide, irregular and have black lines at the edge (? from too much sanding). I was wondering if anyone patched them with wood epoxy or something else or had a way to put a thin veneer back over them. The joint is structurally fine.
