Kayak rescue update

Posted by Adam Bolonsky on Sep 10, 2006

Without decklines, these two fellows would have been in even more serious trouble...

....I interviewed in July the Coast Guard rescue swimmer who with his helicopter flight crew basketlifted two sea kayakers who capsized repeatedly, and then lost one of their kayaks, in heavy seas on a coastal New England roughwater area.

In addition to the interview (part 6 of a series; 1-4 are up so far), Ive posted Coast Guard rescue swimmer photos taken off Oregon (U.S) and elsewhere.

Additionally Ive added or am in the process of adding links to the radio call the kayakers made (pan-pan rather than mayday) as well as the flares they lit and self-rescue methods they attempted.
