More varnishing questions

Now that I've got the first coat on (Schooner varnish from CLC), I have a few more questions. I must say the first coat went on quite well following CLC boatbuilding tips and everyone else's input. 1) How long should I typically wait before the next coat- until it's dry to the touch or longer? I'm planning on wet sanding with 400 grit between coats. Do I just wipe of any residue with a dry rag or do I need to wash it off with a wet towel? Also, should I or should I not use a tack cloth? I assume I shouldn't wipe it down again with lacquer thinner as I did before the 1st coat (per CLC manual). Thanks in advance for everone's input.
