I recently shipped a CLC sailrig from VA to Maine using USHIP.COM and it couldn't have gone better. Also, the price was a fraction of what Forward Air etc. charged. Be aware that it is a essentially a free market process in that it works pretty much like Ebay. People bid on your business and you have to evaluate their bid, and their reputation, based on the reviews other folks who have done business with them leave.

But, the guy who ended up bidding on my item was great and handled the SailRig very tenderly, which is much more of a bizarre shipment than a kayak, as far as the standard shippers I consulted were concerned.
