The CAD programs used to design S&G boat hulls creat a 3-D virtual boat. But, in order to manufacture the boat each panel on the virtual image has to be converted to a flat panel 2-D projection so it can be carved out of plywood. It's the files for the flat panel projections that would drive a CNC router.
