Don't forget to edit the photos first. Crop them so that they only show the interesting part of the photo. Resize them so that they easily fit on the screen. And finally, if it's possible to do so without losing necessary definition, save them with compression on. 70% is a good rule of thumb. This results in smaller image files which load more quickly. It's kinder to our friends with dial-up & DSL, and advantageous to all if the photo server is slow.
