Re: Coaming Glass
Posted by Dave Houser on May 17, 2006
We recently had a thread on this BB about coaming in stages. With the completed coaming not yet install on the deck it is easyer to glass the underside of the lip and the outside vertical of the shim stack. Then after the the coaming is installed, glass the top and inside vertical with bias cut glass tape. This method eliminates all of the awkward sanding under the coaming lip.
The coaming lip takes a lot of abuse from sitting on it when entering the kayak, and from tee-rescues. It does need to be glassed.
