Hull damage

My wife and I were rocking our recently completed CH 17 (my first boat) to and fro to empty water from the cockpit when I lost my grip and the boat fell about a foot on to the sharp corner of a sawhorse. The exterior fiberglass was dented but did not fail. On the interior, however, the plywood had a ragged crack about 1" by 2" long, with one edge displaced from the other by about 3/16th of an inch. I was able to gently hammer the hull back into quasi-alignment, and then did an internal repair consisting of a 2" by 6" fiberglass patch (cut on the bias) with a 4" by 10" glass overlay. My gut feeling was that this would be adequate, but I'm new to all of this, so I thought I would see what "all y'all" think. (We use the plural for Y'all in Florida too.)
