Varnish Scratch Repair
Posted by Chuck Rhodes on Apr 28, 2006
Now that I have used my Chesapeake 17 a number of times since finishing building it last Christmas, the inevitable scratches in the deck varnish have occurred from use, paddle float reentry practice, etc. I am thinking that until it is time to totally revarnish the deck that I will try to revarnish just the scratch marks. To do this I am planning to try using a very fine point detail (artist brush) to carefully fill just the scratch only with a layer of thinned varnish to keep the fresh varnish from drying raised above the level of the scratch marks. Has anyone else tried this or are there other techniques that may work better for scratch repair?
Thanks
Chuck
