Bruce Farr, arguably one of the most successful designers ever, confessed that he was still partial to his ducks and splines. Doubtless his engineers digitize everything. But hull design is a sculptural exercise and it's terribly difficult to replicate the subtleties of hand-drawing in computers.

I still do both. This led in part to developing a class for the WoodenBoat School called "Lofting On Your Laptop" which reconciles the disciplines to some extent.
