Lake Whatcom, Bellingham, WA: On April 13th, 2006, the World Record window opens! Athlete, adventurer and local Bellingham paddler Brandon Nelson will have watched the weather very closely in the hours leading up to 8:00 a.m. With still air and light winds forecast, Brandon will set out to raise the bar of ultra-marathon distance kayaking: He will paddle non-stop in a quest to cover 144 miles in only 24 hours.
