question on deck glass

I'm all assembled and ready to epoxy the deck with the fiberglass cloth. Do I trim the cloth at the edge of the deck or fold the cloth down the sides of the hull? My sides are smooth from when I did the hull and it seems I'll have a hump on the sides of the kayak if my deck epoxy/cloth is folded over the sides.
