Foot Braces

I am installing Yakima adjustable foot braces along with the foot brace mounting kit from CLC. The braces are threaded to fit the stud bolt mounting kit. Should I drill the threads out and use a bolt to mount them or should I mount the footbraces with the stud threaded into the foot brace. I realize if mount them in the threaded position if something breaks I will not be able to remove them.
