I prefer a bulkhead mounted footbrace like the one in the picture below. Mine is just foam fastened to the bulkhead and the sides of the kayak. The one in the picture is adjustable. You can also use a full width piece of foam to stop your feet from slipping off. If you are applying enough force to break a glassed bulkhead, then you have worse things to worry about. The cool thing is that this style of footbrace in addition to being stronger, is that it is way lighter than conventional footbraces.
