I used Behlen Solar-lux Dye-based Stain on my S&G Night Heron. It worked pretty good, but it was much more of a hassle than doing an unstained kayak. It is what Nick Schade of Guillemot Kayaks recommended. The pick below was at R2K5, when I was just removing the foam coaming mold, before the kayak was really finished.
