I don't know about kayak paddling helping your lower back, but it sure helps my sciatica.

If you think about it, we don't get a chance to sit like a frog on his rump, with our knees jammed up under a deck very often, and I think it throws off or confuses our normal pain sensors.

Or maybe it's simply that we're having so much fun, it takes our minds off the discomfort.

Sorry to hear that you're under the weather, and glad that kayak building is your incentive to get better soon.
