Fill the weave before you apply the graphite�cabosil mixture. That way, if you ever decide to remove the black graphite mixture then you can do so without damaging the glass. The varnish will not adhere to a graphite coating. Any varnish laid over top of the graphite will peel off during the first few times you take your kayak out to paddle.
