if you have not yet sanded the boat, what would be normal is to see some of the glass pattern coming through the epoxy. you will also sometimes get some slight waves where the glass pulled a bit in a non-uniform fashion.

once you sand the boat...and then re-epoxy, it should be smooth with no orange peel or waves.
