John, I hope this is not late advice but you can buy a piece of plastic quarter round at home depot and cut it to any size you want, then make small holes evenly spaced through it. The holes are for small thumbtacks that are inserted into the plywood outside the marking line. Voila! Now you have a batten that is flexible fair and long lasting and you can use it without the help of anyone. it is also cheap.
