John'sharpie plans

Hi, I am interested in building a sharpie and your John's looks very nice. As I will build from plans, I need to know what the set is made of and how difficult it is to build (I have built a S&G Pygmy Kayak from kit). Plus : Is there anybody there, that has experienced a different rig (one mast)?
