Thanks Angelo and Jim, my decked canoe is incomplete and yet to be weighed but it is getting harder to lift it. My pevious intended carrier vehicle was an older Volvo with a nice long/low roof. Would you believe 80 inches between the bars? The CRV can manage about 27/28 inches when mounted to Thule spec's and is a much taller vehicle. Not messing up the rear edge of the roof is a concern as the rear rack bar sits way forward compared to the Volvo. Repairs were costing nearly as much as car payments without the benefits. RogerJ
