It seems to be the nature of epoxy to develope runs long after everything looks perfect, especially on the vertical surfaces.

One sage builder advised scheduling your time so you can come back every 15 minutes or so and deal with the runs. That timing also lets you press down the little bumps that sometimes show up. Past a certain point in the curing process the epoxy will be sticky enough to make the glass stay put when pressed back into place.
