Seriously, I use a foam brush and thin according to the instructions on the can (I use Epifanes). I have an expensive varnish brush and couldn't really tell the difference between that and the 2" foam brushes except cleanup is a lot faster with a foam brush. The garbage can is only a few steps away. Bottom line is do what works best for you. Everybody on this forum has at least two things in common - opinions and rectums (please note the use of the politically correct term).

And as always remember, sanding is fun....
