Too much technology

Well, it used to work. That is until AOL downloaded some great and wonderful improvement to the software this computer uses to access the internet.

Now, instead of having the "new" messages marked since my last log-on all the messages are still marked as "new".

I would be grateful if anyone who knows about thses infernal machines could tell me how to fix things.
