Re: glass on coaming
Posted by Dave Houser on Oct 27, 2005
I did not glass the coaming on my Ches 17 and now wish I had. Sitting on the coaming during entry and rescues has cracked it. Sitting on the coaming bent the lip down and pryed the inside edge of the first spacer up and delaminated the spacer which I epoxed injected to repair. Then the lip bent down under additional sittings and the lip cracked above the edge outside edge of the spacer stack. Which I epoxy injected to repair and it has cracked again. I will be revarnishing the kayak soon and the coaming will receive glass in the process.
