George is right

Kurt, I tried to find a way to email you directly thru this page but couldn't find it. George is right about cold water. I instruct in Alaska, 34-50 degree water most of the season. You have to be dressed to stop cold water shock and be able to roll up, scull up, pull up on a buddies boat.... or exit and get right up on top of your kayak immediately then figure your reentry. I've got a dozen or more recoveries, all work with less than 30 seconds in the water with a little practice. Don't get the Carlisle carbon paddle on REI outlet, 43 ounces! : ( way too heavy. I'm at [email protected] if you want some gear info and/or cold water paddling/recovery handouts. Randy
