pax in waves

Posted by craig on Oct 17, 2005

First off, I live in Tampa and we don't get the same kind of waves as many other places, we get chop and not rollers, so my answers may not be valid in all areas. Long slender boats aren't very forgiving in waves and the Pax 20 doesn't turn well enough to properly mount a wave to surf it.In flatwater they have good secondary stability and weathercock well(not much). They are reasonnably fast and offer fairly low resistance, but they are not an all around great boat. I have never really gotten into big trouble with mine, but my sensibilities are somewhat askew and I can see where they would be a handful for most people. I had a Findiesson shearwater surfski before the Pax, the went on to an ICF K-1 Olympic boat.
