Not only is it not unanimous, it's just not correct! There are plenty...okay not plenty but at least more than a handful...of people who build and sleep in their kayaks. There was even a post on here about a year ago that mentioned some guy that believed in soloing to the extreme with all homemade gear and he did it.

Sleeping comfortably and sleeping aren't the same thing. That said, I think it would be completely feasible to build a kayak (especially the size of a Chessy) that you could sleep comfortably in.
