I too used the "make your own" decal kit, where you print on special paper, then mine said to coat it with some clear paint that came with it. The only issue with this is like Gober said is that you first have to apply epoxy, otherwise you have a dry spot. I think rice paper would look much better; more like it was painted on.

But I have had trouble finding rice paper; what chain-store is a good place?
