car toping

I am heading out to Florida from Texas on Thursday with my two mc13 yaks. My neighbor sold me his Saris rack system so I now have a solid rack to tie down to. The hulls on my boats are getting the last clear coat tonight. The final clear coats should have about 48 hours to cure out. Do I need to put some of that foam pipe insulation over the racks to keep the clear coat from getting beat up?
