I can attest to the durability of the brass rubstrips. They do tarnish fairly quickly, but as a matter of course, this won't affect their seaworthiness. The rear strip especially sees abuse from such mundane pursuits as loading the 'yak onto my truck rack. Makes a big difference when you don't worry about supporting the weight of the boat on the stern end of the keel line while you set up to slide your boat onto the rack.
Only takes about 2 minutes with a bottle of Noxon to clean them up, assuming you're not lazy like me...
