As far as weight goes, I wouldn't worry about paint adding any noticeable amount. My ch17 weighs 48 lbs and is painted with a varnished deck. If you are going to use brightsides, don't bother with the spray stuff. Take it from me, spraying brightsides will drive you CRAZY! I had excelent results rolling and tipping. My secret is thinning the paint to the maximum recomended amount and adding about 2oz of Penetrol to a quart. The primer will fill pinholes and minor imperfections. You will end up sanding 95% of it back off. If you are satisfied with the way the boat looks natural, varnishing is much easier and quicker. Repairs are much easier with varnish also.
