I didn't really like the idea of moving my rear deck up either so the cockpit coaming tip would sit on the deck beam. To clarify my mistake:I put the deck beam an inch to close to the bow, guess i lucked out in that department. my manual states using ring nails at the front of the coaming driven into the deck beam along with the epoxy cabo-sil. After reading your input and thinking about it, I think this is nothing to worry about. ive decided with option 2 espeacily if you have neve used ring nails with the coaming on any of your boats.
