pax 20 deck

I am ready to assemble my deck my deck came in 8 pieces contrary to the assembly manual's 4. I am wondering about the scarf joints and whether or not I will have trouble installing the deck after the joints dry. I have had thin coats of epoxy dry on tape and then crack when you try to bend them. So do I assemble and epoxy the deck pieces to the kingplank and only epoxy the scarf joint after it is installed on the hull or should I glue the scarf joints and let them set up then glue to kingplank or what.
